And then it was May...

Lord, could someone please tell me where the time goes? I have a lot to update, but for now, I just wanted to share my Shrinky Dink solution for anyone who, as I am, is faced with shrinking 105 5th grade art projects before next week. I struggled for a very long time with curling projects which broke my heart every time I had to salvage one. I've managed to save all but one so far (sorry little ruined soul!). The secret is weight. I'm cooking them at 300 degrees on top of a piece of parchment paper, then covered by another piece of parchment and then these really thin (think report cover weight) cardboard sheets. That amount of weight allows them to shrink, but not curl! Hooray! Hooray!

On other fronts, I got unceremoniously dumped on my keister when the spin bike seat failed at my local gym while I was seated upon it. Xrays show no breaks, just some pulled ligaments and a sore butt. Stupid gym didn't even care. Sent a standard form letter stating "saftey is their primary concern". Their primary concern is doing as little work as they can while raking in the membership fees. Monopolies suck.

Wha-cha!

Wow! Long time no bloggie. Almost the end of January and things are rolling...I feel like I am gaining ground and inching my way back to normalcy. It's been a grateful day with me realizing how lucky we have things here in our little neck of the woods. No matter what comes our way, we are better off than other poor souls out there. I've been counting my blessings and have not come up wanting.

2nd weigh in of WW tomorrow (I don't think I have mentioned that I joined...) Had a good first week with a 5.8 drop. Would LOVE a 4.2 to push me to 10, but I will take any downward movement.

Gym is doing a Biggest Loser challenge. A and I are going to do it! I would love to win it and get my membership paid up for the year! It's a 12 week commitment. Feb.9 - May 4. That would put me right up to J's wedding. How awesome would that be to roll into that with 30 pounds gone? Just in time for nice weather too!

Of course, that means planning planning planning...can do it!

It also means sleep...where I am heading now.

Watery Days

The past few days have been pretty crazy. We had some big time floods here in Snoqualmie. I've been down in the historic part of town helping a friend demo the bottom two feet of her two apartment units. Carpet, underlay, wall boards, insulation...all had to be torn out and thrown out. A wet, awful job. Was a good workout though!

Weighed in yesterday at 256. Found out that the WW meeting is on Tuesday morning at 11:30 so I am excited about that. Perhaps I can get back on track.

When I stop with the water, I eat more. Drink more, eat less.

January 5th already? Cuh-razy... 256.0

Yesterday was a great day. Meals went as planned, even had ice cream last night and enjoyed it without regret. It's all part of the plan...

Today, I was late on the planning, but here we go:

Breakfast:

  • cereal, one cup with milk
  • half banana
  • water
Snack:
  • fat-free yogurt
  • banana
  • tea latte with FF milk and SF syrup (note to self...YUCK...no London Fogs again...barf)
Lunch
  • Lean Cuisine Chicken Carbonara
  • tomato and 1/2 cucumber
Snack
  • apple and cheese stick
Dinner
  • 1 1/2 cup Chili with 1/4 cup measured grated cheese, onions
  • Caesar salad with homemade caesar dressing and croutons! YUM!
Book Club:

This will pose a dilemma... I think a hot chocolate and drink it slow? Will be a challenge, but I think if I focus on the conversation and be mindful of drinking it slow, then it will do. Veggie plate if they have it. Worried that today is too thin on food and then I will be starving...

Staying true...

I did fairly well, with some derailments today. I did follow the meal plan almost to the T. I had some homemade nougat, some trail mix (1/2 cup) and a handful of M&Ms. I did NOT have my end of night snack, so on the whole, I think I did ok.

Tomorrow's plan:

Pre-workout:
  • grape nuts serving
  • banana
Post-workout:
  • omelette-2eggs, veggies, cheese
Lunch:
  • out at Whole Foods...salad bar?
Dinner;
  • salmon steak
  • baked potato with cottage cheese (1/2 cup)
  • green beans
That's all I can think of for now...might update things tomorrow if I get organized.
Hooray! I actually remembered to weigh in this morning. The results were not positive I am sad to report! LOL 258.8 pounds. Nowhere to go but down!

I had a good morning so far. I had my pre-workout breakfast and then discovered that the exercise class I wanted to do was cancelled. BAH! Doesn't the gym realize it is hard enough to get there without someone ELSE making excuses for me? So, I met my hilarious workout buddy for coffee and even managed to have my bottle of water and banana only! Yay (killing two resolutions with one stone!)

And then, here's the best part...after she went off to her appointment...I went to the gym! I did 40 minutes of cardio and felt great when I was done. I also did one minute total of skipping. My goal is to work up to one minute without stopping with my final goal of 5 minutes solid. Who knew that a kids playground activity would be so hard??? Cinder-ella...dressed in yell-a...went upstairs to kiss a fell-a...

Upon my glorious return, I created a lovely omelette breakfast for me as seen here:

It was so yummy! I still have some fruit to eat and then its on to cleaning the house.

Until then...
